Dopo l'abbandono dei Genesis nel 1977, Steve Hackett continuo' la sua carriera musicale come solista, gia' inaugurata nel 1975 con l'album "Voyage Of The Acolyte".
Prosegui' inoltre una collaborazione coi Genesis su ulteriori album e fondo' per un breve periodo di tempo un supergruppo - i GTR - insieme al chitarrista degli Yes Steve Howe.

"Cured" album del 1981 fu il disco piu' commerciale pubblicato dall'artista, quello della svolta pop.
